Size of Hydro Koralia Powerheads

Does anyone have a pic of a Koralia 3 in their tank? Specs say they're 4" x 3" x 1.75", which doesn't like an ok size to me, but some folks are saying they're huge. I'm trying to see exactly how big these are. I have a 55 gallon and am debating between 2 3's or a 2 and a 3. Thanks!

I stuck 2-#3's in my 55g. Ill try to remember to take a pic tonight.
They look ok not too big and not too small. I don't mind them really. My opinion might change once I put rock in there.

I used to have #3, but trade it for Nanostream 6050 which is more compact IMO.

I haven't filled my tank yet I'm getting equipment together and building the canopy. From what I've heard I'm going to need 2-#3's for a mixed reef tank. More is better and these apparently spread the flow really well. So even if there is too much flow it will be gently dispersed. Hope that helps.

I am using a #3 and #4, in my 58 gal, I like the performance however they do look a little large, The Tunze has more of a streamline look, but you cant beat the price of the Koralia. Also if you take the end cap off the Koralia it disperses a much softer flow threw-out the tank.

How do you do that? The shaft for the prop fits into the cap.

I have a newer model, about a month old, It came with a cup attached to the end of the power head, to direct the flow, I just unsnapped it, The pictures above by Wojteks-Reefs show the Koralia without the cap on, the way mine looks now, I just thought I would mention this , with the cap on, the #4 was a little to powerful for my tank, so I pulled it off.

Oh now I know what you mean, the fish guard that they started shipping recently is the piece you removed. I have one that I never tried.

Great thanks for all the info and the picture. I don't think they look bad, I got worried when some people were describing them as looking like grapefruits in their tank! I'm going to order 2 3's.

I have been using the cap on two of mine, but now Im considering removing them as I think it is giving me more direct flow which is kicking up my sandbed.

Anyone think it is safe to just leave them off?

I have been using mine off with no problems thus far.. Its definitely a more dispersed flow without the cap on, and the only real benefit I could see to having it on would be the fish screen..

The way I see it, if a fish can actually swim into the propeller...against the flow.. to its death.. It wouldn't take a fish screen to stop it

haha good point. I didnt think it would be a problem. Except for the crazy snails and hermits I have that love climbing all over the pumps.

Ill be taking those off tomorrow. Cant stand the bare spot in my tank because of sand kick up.
