blue tux urchin releasing white stuff

I just noticed the urchin was releasing out some white stuff. At first I thought it was food it was releasing but suddenly my skimmer started going off crazy. Turned it off, then the urchin started releasing more white stuff. I logged online, googled what it was and found out it was Spawning =), my question is.. Does it need another urchin to reproduce or are those white stuff eggs? I took a pic but it was too late, he/she stopped when i finally found the camera.

That happened to me one time-- but I think that the white stuff that was coming out was due to stress after just battling an anemone. Either way, no eggs or baby urchins ever came out of it...That I know of, anyway.

I've seen that with my longspine urchins. No babies, no harm done.

thanks, maybe it was stressed. I was in the process of finishing a water change. but it sure was a sight to see for the first time. weird/cool experience.

Clown eggs will look orangish then shift to brownish and finally silvery just before they hatch. They'll be in a patch, attached to a rock with the clowns paying a lot of attention to them - not found in sushi :)

(Or were you just kidding in the first place....)

My best guess on the urchin thing is that it probably is a spawning event, AND that may well be triggered and or encouraged by stress events.
