14k phoenix changed to 10k xm: how long do i shade?

well i am changing my 14k phoenixes to 10k xm's this weekend on my 75g.

just wondering if any members have suggestions in terms of how long i should shade my tank. i plan on using layers of mesh screen to do this but if anyone has a better idea im all ears.

I would think about a week to ten days with removing one or two screens every couple of days.

It depends on what kind of corals too. But assuming SPS I'd go with the slow light acclimation to avoid burnage.

sounds good!

i have sps, clams and lps.

I have gone back and forth from 10K to 14K to 20K and never screened and never had a problem, It was all the same wattage (400 watts) so I didnt think it was needed to shade.

interesting

how deep is your tank and how far are the lights from the surface?

my 75 is i think 20" deep and the lights are about 6 inches off the surface of the water.
