From what I gathered the Scooter Blenny is actually classed as a Dragonet.
Are they as difficult as manderins?I've often toyed with the idea of getting one as I like the way they scoot across the sand bed.The LFS also has the red ones in stock as well. Are they susceptible ot marine Ick or other parasites?

mandarins can't get ick.. since they don't have scales.. but have a skin that produces a slime that is toxic if they were to be eaten by other fish.. that being said.. i THINK they wouldn't get ick if they are of the same family.. but then again i never had a scooter.. only a mandarin..

IME they are pretty hardy provided you have a really good pod population. I would go for the Red if you do get one.

Well,that pretty cool.
Would definitely help out when it comes to QT.

I have a 20L attached to the system that seems to have a pretty good pod population,Kevin. The LR is also pretty aged, and noticed a lot of pods during the evening while using a flashlight.
So maybe i'll be good to go.

I had one until just recently when I lost him......not sure why. Definitely one of my top two or three favorite fish. Could watch him all the time. Mine actually took to mysis fairly fast as well, but you would think you were watching a Mandarin the way they eat. I would also say get a red one if possible, they look really cool in your tank and immediately draw people's attention when they look in. I plan to replace mine very soon.

I have a black and white scooter and i love him, so entertaining. The LFS where i picked him up fed the tank and i picked one we saw going after the food. You may not always get that kind of service but its worth a try.

I have a black and white one that doesn't eat any prepared food. He goes after the pods, sifting through the sand constantly. Pretty entertaining fish, always skipping around the rock work and substrate. The other fish leave him alone and vice versa.

Sounds like a plan,Mike.
The red ones are a little more pricey, but look really cool.

The LFS that I frequent would feed the tank if I wanted them too.I could just watch for the ones that take mysis readily.

That's cool that the other fish don't both him.
I'm not sure how my Coral Banded shrimp will be with one.
