What do people do when there pumps in the sump get encrusted with calcium? When i shut off the pumps, i have to give it a little help to get it going again. The sump is where i add my 2 part and MG. I heard soaking them in vinegar helps? Is this true? How long due you soak them for?

Every few months you should take it out and soak it in vinegar as long as it is needed. The more often you do it the less amount of time is required. Remember to rinse it well before adding it back to the tank.

I use a 50/50 vinegar and water mix stick it in a bucket and leave 1 powerhead on for circulation. Usually all off in an hour'ish...

I had this problem as many others using two part, If you ever switch to a Ca reactor the problem will go away.

I do the same.
Sometimes I need to use a pick or something to clean out the venturi on the skimmer as well.

that's probably salt in your venturi....

Really Jay?

I occasionally dump ro/di water down the venturi tube, heard it can help keep clear longer.

the salt would dissolve in the venturi...the Ca takes the vinegar.....so you're right.

I think it's cause I drip kalk in the sump and also dose 2 part.
I've had to work a drywall screw through it one before.
