how to paint the back off my aquarium

Hi newbee to salt water hobby. I have a 55g that I would like to paint the back and the sides of the aquarium can I do this with the tank already setup. What kind of paint do I used. Can some one help. If not thank you.

I just painted mine with ordinary latex exterioir house paint. no special prep work other than to clean the glass.

Kind of hard to paint the back if the tanks up and running. Get a vinyl backing sheet. Most LFS carry them.

I will try that. I need to get the sun light in control the fish tank sits in front of three windows. I might have to tint my windows. Don't have anywere else to put the aquarium.

Can you fit a roller back there? That's how I did mine and it worked really well. I used black latex paint.

I did the same roller with black latex paint. If you can fit the roller back there and get any equipment off the back and out of the way for a few hours you will be fine.

Use a hotdog roller and some black acrylic paint. I have done a six foot tank when it was setup. Just make sure you clean the back of the tank and let it dry.
