Super glue or epoxy...or both together

What do you guys do when placing frags in the tank? Do you just glue them, epoxy them, both, or do you just place them in the tank?

How long after it has been in the tank do you usually dedicate a part of a rock to a frag?

i my self epoxy them if i can. if i can i will do super glue and epoxy. i decide when to frag. when im in the mood to frag lol. or when my dad wants a frag. or when they are a good size to get at least 2 frags out of. and a mother colony for me.

I have a difficult time with epoxy. So I have been using the gel glue and I find it a lot easier. All my frags have been small so far and if I have to do some larger items I might try the gel glue epoxy sandwich.

oh. right after its acclimated i find a spot. and then glue/puddy it down

After the dip and acclimation, I'll use a combination of epoxy and super glue to secure the frag.

i usually use ic-gel to secure the frag to the plug/disk/rubble, then use aqua-putty to attach the disk/plug/rubble, to a piece of my aquascape....I use to worry that once puttied that i couldnt get it out to frag, (I HATE reaching into the tank with bone cutters thats RISKY too much always brakes off and then lands right on a nice chalice or acan!!!)... and I would drill holes in rock scape for plugs, or keep stuff in the sand....but I have found that even when the putty dries for awhile and the coral needs fragging you can still snap the whole colony off the rock {at the putty spot} and frag it then re-putty and put it back in the same exact spot (assuming its not too encrusted below the putty, and once i still broke it off to frag and left half the encrusted base on the rock put it right back after fragging and it re-encrusted)....

If it's something like a ricordea or zoas I place it in a spot where I think it will be happy for a week.Then if it seems happy and looks good in that spot then I'll stick it down.
I have better luck with the epoxy.Especially it the frags are on plugs.

Can you use regular superglue or do you need a special type? Also, do you apply the superglue and then stick it to the rock or do you wait for it to set up for a certain time period? Do you have to remove the rock from the water or can you glue the peices under water?

Just regular super glue.The Gel works the best.
It's best to remove the rock if you can and scrub the area with an old toothbrush.But many members have had luck super gluing underwater.I've done it a couple times and you have to hold really still and use a lot of glue.
Some use a combination of the epoxy and super glue.

Glue the whole thing down.
Trust me,frag plugs are your friend.
If it's one with the "T" shape to it you can snip the bottom off if you don't have a hole in the live rock to place it.

Try Coralfix it is clear like superglue but is for reef corals. It solidifies immediately when it hits salt water. It comes in a good sized bottle usuallyfor under $10.

This doesn't show on rock or on plugs

Small frag Super glue if it is too big epoxy is needed. I find once it is acclimated to the area you want it Glue it in place ASAP. I find that once a coral is solid in place it takes 3-4 months to really start growing strong. If it is always moving they never seem to take off.

I remove the plugs when treating the incoming corals, too many problems to avoid I find this one way to reduce those risks

This is the stuff I use from a group buy a while back I use the thickest one 1500cps, perfect for me. I know a lot of members like to use the accelerator but I have never used it.

same here, I can never get the epoxy to work. I just use a half tube of super glue and some accelerator

For me it depends who i get the coral from. I absolutely HATE the ORA plugs.

Use reef glue and glue accelerator! I was using epoxy and everytime I did my protein skimmer went ape********! Pumping out GALLONS of water. I use a hob aqua remora skimmer with a drain into a 5 gallon bucket ( thank god ) I recently started using the glue and accelerator and wished that I had been using it all along. Take a rock or rubble out place the glue on frag or colony then spray or drop some accelerator on it and in about 30 sec you are done!
