what happens to an acan that dies?

I just finished a move and I hadn't fed my acan for days... (about 3-5). Well, I hear about them melting but... it just seems very hard and flat. It doesn't look like it melted away. And I can see the mouth puffed out. The acan doesn't seem to be feeding but I can't really tell sinces its an extremely small frag. The move caused the temperature to go up to 86 degrees and i'm fearing it may have died. Anyway to tell 100%? Tonight i'll look to see if the tentacles are out. any advice?

I can't keep acans for the life of me. I have had 3 frags slowly receede. On mine they receede and you can see the skeleton. I am giving up on them.

I don't know, but I picture B slowly weeping as he reads this post.
For what it's worth, I've never been able to keep a mussidae family members, presumably because of allopathic compounds since they tend to do just fine until being placed in my display.

If you see any flesh ... try using an iodine dip and move it to less light and less flow.
oh yeh make sure its not getting to close other acans and corals.

If the acan's white skeleton can be seen its usually a sure sign its on its way out. Try moving it and an iodine dip.

the colors have never gone away. it was just very flat. Its back to semi fluffy. and i found at least 2 heads feeding. I see the biggest mouth has tentacles but i can't tell if its feeding yet. I tihnk im in the clear. God knows I'd cry if my four seasons died on me.
