Cheato dying, turning into mush

I am using the 6500k 13w Home Depot spiral one.

Interesting. So it's not too bad from what I googled? Seems like just another thing I can trim back and remove nutrients with.

I had a 6500K spiral fluorescent flood light and went to the 6700k.

I would like to try the 6700k bulb could you tell me where you purchased it and any munbers on it that may help to get the right one?

I had the same problem, my chaeto just would not grow; I was using a spiral PC from Home Depot. I read on on of the BRS posts about a PC that has a intigrated reflector at HD and was either 6500k or 6700k (I forget). When I installed it the chaeto started to grow but then stopped. A fellow reefer in town suggested I had to much cheato in my fuge so I threw out (posted first but no takers) 3/4 of it and now it is growing quite well. I have a real hair alge problem currently so I've obviously got plenty of nutrients and as long as I keep it trimmed back it keeps growing. I am currently cutting back 50% once a week.

The 6500K worked fine for me,I just replaced it after a year.
I think they're called energy savers(day light) and in a light blue or red package(can't remember).You have to read the very small print for the 6700K info.
