.......i was wondering if anyone owns a sedona style stand, as i own one and have for about 8 months, and the hinges for the doors inside the stand have completely rusted.......how can they get away with using a material that rusts??????

.......what doesnt rust?....iu know aluminum doesnt rust but do they make aluminum hinges? (im sure i could google it but im hoping someone here has an answer).........stainless steel??, i think thats what they are.....

.....i used to own a oceanic mission stand and the hinges never rusted, also they are not getting hit with direct water, its just the occasional spray/mist that we all get in our set-ups

You can clean the rust off with a little etching solution from Bhear at the HD

Stainless steel man.None of that zinc plated junk.

....so stainless doesnt rust, wouldnt you think thats what they would use?.....

.....i sent an email to marineland with pics so we'll see what they say, i was just hoping that someone has/d the same issue and has found a replacement hinge that fits the stand....

you can remove your hinges and coat them in clear spray varnish to help prevent corrosion

....thats a great idea, i was thinking of some kind of sealer, im going to wait to hear back from marineland, hopefully they have gone with different hinges and if not ill coat the new ones with varnish....

Nope S.S. doesn't rust...mostly.
You should be able get a lookalike replacement locally out of S.S.

This is only a temp solution and your efforts will be wasted in a short time.

Solid brass or bronze will also work. Just don't use ones that are plated brass. Hinge pin should be stainless , brass or bronze.
