Reefer In Training
So I headed down to My Pet World in Worcester MA, off of west boylston st. near QCC I was looking in to a product that could help me with leveling out my nitrates and the guy recommanded me to a product called Prime for fresh and salt water treatment it's from seachem I dont know how good this thing is but I'll give it a try! the other item was Instant Ocean's bio-spira bacteria It says I works with upto 75 gallons I was wondering if I should wait until I do the water change or could I just add it to my tank now?

What is your nitrates at?
Niether of those products will do anything for nitrates.
They are mostly for helping establish a biological filter.

I agree with Bob. Return those if you still can, they will do nothing to help with your high nitrates :(

the instand ocean bio-spira was only so I could add bacteria to my tank?

Nothing in a bottle can do all of those things.

Sadly there is much BS marketing printed on bogus bottles of unknown stuff to be added to reef tanks.

Your bacteria comes with the live rock and or sand.

There are some bacteria booster products on the market that might be worth while for some reasons, but in general you don't need any of that stuff. Paitence, patience and 0 $ :)

I have patients I just saw this video on youtube from indio-pacific the guy add the same product I just bought and added it during the cycing process to help jump start things? are you sure about this?

Yes,and it's not very good at that unfortunately.
One product I heard that does work exceptionaly well is the Fritz turbo start.
But that's another story.
Anyways, you'll save a lot of money if you use this site to your advantage.:)
Don't buy stuff first and then ask later if it's OK later.
Ask before hand and also read up.Some folks in LFS are just hired hands/talking heads.
There's some really great LFS that are also sponsors here that give great info.
But,it's always good to talk to the guy/gal in charge at these stores when asking important info.

I understand that it comes from LR and or sand lol:D but I just want more bacteria! or is that a bad thing?

Nothing good happens fast in a reef tank. Read it, know it, believe it.

While the products may help ESTABLISH bacteria, you already have some...you just need some of the 'paitence' John is suggesting above.

If you try to sprint out of the gate in this hobby, it will frustrate you, disappoint you, and you'll be trying to fight a losing battle which will empty your wallet, and make your hair fall out and blood pressure go up....

Oh, wait, that's me :o

Seriously, you need to wait it out....

No, but IMO you won't benifit much from dropping a bunch of $$ on that stuff.

It won't hurt, but probably won't help as much as one would hope. Going slow and letting nature take it's course is a good thing with a reef tank.

Get yourself a good book about reef aquarium set up and maintenance.
This way you'll have something to refer back to.
The owner......really?
Well, even owners want to make a buck off those that don't know bette I guess..
There must be a reason I've never been to this store, but live in Worc. county.

Yea, no negativity in there :) He's just tellin it like it is.

There may be a petsmart empolyee somewhere who is actually knowledgable about saltwater, but I've never met one....

You'll do much better with real saltwater stores. Skiptons, CRA, AA, Jays....

I have returned wallets with cash a few times.
And even had my wife's pocket book returned.
Hopefully there's honest folks where the wallet got lost.
Good luck.
