STILL getting nothing out of my skimmmer

I have one of the newer Octopus skimmers. I really forget which model. JimmyJ (John) the mod where are you? You know what I got?

I have been playing with the open close for months and still nothing. There is no way with a lion, two triggers, an eel, a tang, and a small six line that I want eaten I should be getting no skim.

Anybody have any issues with these? My old NW150 a few years ago was great.

What am I doing wrong!!!

Is it set to skim wet?

I don't really know Jay. I have tried all open for weeks, all closed for weeks, and in between. I have kept it clean. All I get is a little foam at the cup and about an 1/8" of skim...EVER.

I didn't see your post John. Its one of the two, yes. I am heading to bed have an early meeting. Talk to you all tomorrow. I HAVE to be doing SOMETHING wrong.

Tom if you want come over and look at my Euro Reef. I never get anything. It foams up nice, but no nice dark crud:mad: I have posted about it, I have done gate valve mods, mesh mods, and nothing. I have no phos, trates, algae, and the water looks fine. Maybe my fish do poop icecream:D. I was always bothered by it, but have chose to move on, and obsess over something else;)

Good Luck Derek

I have found most skimmers to be pretty finicky to get running right. Sometimes getting them sitting in just the right water level can be key.

Especially true with in sump skimmers like Euro Reef and ASM. I run a G-6 and water level is crucial to how much skimmate I get. It can be a pita until you get your top off spot on.

If this is a FOWLR then i would guess you are running a lot lower salinity, this will really affect needle wheel skimmers performance

Where it was a reef, I am working my way down Liam but not there yet. Will be keeping it around 1.022 or so but still up close to reef salinity like my nano for now.
