Thought they were really nice looking until I read what they are. I have read about the peppermint shrimp and the butterfly fish to get rid of it and also the checmicals you can use. My question is can I do a freshwater rinse of the rock they have taken over? Will that do the trick?
Thanks

nope they are very resiliant to things like that. If it's just one rock I would just take it out all together. Or pick up some joes juice or aptasia x and inject those little buggers! Good luck they are hard to get rid of if they get bad. Pepermint shrimp usually help but copperbands are hard to keep alive in my opinion.

Thank you. Just called Krystal clear and they have Joe's juice. Think I'll give that a try. What do you mean by take it out? Remove the rock?
I will do that if worse comes to worse, but it has a few mushrooms and is about the size of a football. My little 50 gallon would really notice if I took it out :)
I'll try Joe's juice and grab a couple peppermint shrimp and see what happens.
Thanks again...

My 90 started to get a lot aiptasia so I got a CBB and six peppermint shrimp, I never saw the CBB or the shrimp go near the aiptasia but within a week or so they were all gone I still don't know who to thank. The problem with products like Joe's Juice is that many of them are in locations impossible to reach with that type of a product.

What does the nudibranch eat when the aptasia is gone. I keep zapping the aptasia I can reach but I can see them behind the rocks and within a few days they are on the front of the rocks again

Nothing they only eat aptasia. You should get some use them then sell them to someone else.

agreed, you can easily trade them off to someone who needs them on here, and it will keep them alive, well hopefully

I am dealing with the same problem. Had about 20 or so to kill. Joe's juice worked great on the large ones. Fish did not seem to mind. I put in a few PM shrimp (not sure where they went) can't seem to find them.... Maybe a nice snack for my large clown.. hopefully not!
See if you can find some one who works in a hospital and get a long cardiac needle and syringe to reach down. I had to move some rocks around to get some of them.

Still have some to treat. I will do it over a couple of days. Then do a water change. Hoping the PM's will show themselves and take care of the small ones

Instead of Joe's Juice or some other premaid product just get some Kalk powder and make you're own highly concentrated mix. You can usually get a small thing of kalk powder much cheaper than Joe's Juice plus you can make a ton more in the long run. Only thing is you'd need to get a syringe at like a Wal Mart or CVS/Walgreen's. Still much cheaper IMO...

And I wouldn't use Peppermint Shrimp. I've heard way too many horror stories about them going after LPS frags once the aiptasia is gone...

+1

I Just recently gave away my peppermint shrimp, he got too big and I feared a horror was coming soon upon my lps :)

Thanks for the helpful responses. Joe's Juice is only 8 bucks and in stock at Krystal clear. Going to try it out and see. If it is a no go, I'll look into the Berghia nudibranch. The CopperBanded Butterfly seems a bit touchy and maybe a bit too big for my 50 gallon. (looking for a 92 corner :) ) I'll keep you posted and try to video tape how it works and throw it up on youtube. Watched a few videos last night and it is really amazing how they just implode after a few seconds...

Better than Joe's Juice? I am leaning towards this as it comes with the applicator and is only 8 bucks. I guess if I need to do it again, I'll try the kalk powder as I'll have the applicator or needle. Where do you get kalk powder?
Thanks again..

Aptasia X is better than joes juice. Its in the glass case at the front of the store.

Thank you. I called last night and someone said you only had Joe's Juice. Wasn't Roger or his wife. Not sure who it was. I'll check it out when I get there around 4 today...
Would you also recommend getting a couple peppermint shrimp as well? I'm a little leary as people say they like to go after lps after the aiptasia is gone.

that would be rick. and you are probably right we sell out of aptasia x pretty quickly. i would expect more in thursday. i would just wait for the good stuff. its a little more expensive at 11.95 but definately worth it. i wouldn't get peppermint shrimp. however the copperband on the top right tank when you walk in was eating sunday when i fed it mysis soaked in garlic extreme.

Saw him. Must've been you who sold us the Flame angel and 6 line wrasse. Thanks again...They are doing well. I am swinging in today so whatever you have I'll grab. Sounds like they are similar products and some folks like one and some folks like the other.
