Do you know how long the cap was bagged up before you put it in your tank.

I was there when DZ6t put it in the bag it took me about hour and a half to get home? then I drip accu'd it for an 1 hrs let it get used to the temp and then i placed it in my tank after about half hour.

it could just be streesed from the move. it may start to look healthier after being in your tank for a couple days.

next time just flot the coral for temp. dip and drop. what are you running for light and what was it under. if it didnt get to hot on the ride home should come back

Was the ac on in the vehicle?Heat stress!

damn it might have been the heat cause it was hot yesterday do you think theres still hope? I love the way they look there very pretty when fully grown.

I can give you another piece. It is free also.

I'm not sure you'll be able to keep any sps alive with pcs, especially if they are 50/50. IIRC, Dong has 250 watt metal halides on his tanks. Going from halides to pcs would be like putting it in the shade imo.

Also, try to bring some kind of cooler with you when you go to get frags, especially if it's going to be a long trip and when temp outside is less than perfect, which is most days in NE.

Now thats good info . but you didnt have to make my lighting sound like crap:D that was funny tho . I will be more prepaired next time . tanks for the info.

You really need t5/MH/LED to have stony corals survive...PC just doesn't cut it for anything but leathers IMO

I started with pcs years ago also, so don't feel bad.

Give it a little time too. Orange caps are quite durable for SPS, and I've seen them seem to bleach/die but then come back numerous times.

What's your alk? That tends to be the parameter that SPS are most sensitive to.

not sure I just did a 65% water change and I dont have a tester on alk just yet!

Just my .02 but you may want to slow down or at least research the corals needs before you get them. You might be tempted to grab any good looking or cheap corals and throw them in the tank, but you are in for a big shock down the line when your tank crashes and you loose them all. You don't even have proper test kits to check all the necessary parameters needed to keep corals and livestock. I'll bet your cap is bleaching because your water parameters are off and your lack of proper lighting for SPS. Please don't take this as anything but me trying to help you. Do yourself a favor and get your water in check, then stick with corals and livestock that will thrive under your particular lighting. If you ever have a question, please ask. The knowledge here is by far the best!! :)

Jeff

PS if your ever over my way, stop in and I'll give you a handful of shrooms or Kenya Tree on the house!!

Not true in all cases. I have 200w PC light on my Anemone tank which also houses B/N and caps and they do wonderful.
I could not keep B/N in my DT with my T5 light.

thanks jeff and Im not the type to get worked up so easly as far as the caps I recieved both cap I've gotten for free I really was unsure about taken all these corals I asked dz6t if they would be ok under pc light he said yes not that im pointing figures doug is a great guy very informative. I had a feeling that this might happen so thats why I went to LPS to get some Saltmix. I had I sample of my water to be tested I had some of doug's water from the bags that the coral was in. I check my water levels. I was told buy the owner that my levels where as good or better then dougs tank he's pH was a bit low. I think It was the ride home that took a toll on the coral it was hot sat. And I had it in shade on in the back set but I took me about 2 hr to finally get it in the tank that counting the ride home, Dip Accalmation , and water change but I had it in my tank during the water change. I've had some expericence with caps before I recieved an org cap from Rone awhile back It did go for about a month and half but I had a freak heat spike and I lost my b-nest org cap I test my water and it seemed that my calcium was low to so It all played apart. Im going to hold of on corals for a month or so Im buy a t-5 ligh fixture from someone soon Its for my 125 that should work out better for me. I do have a few question tho.

I got a few other corals from Dz6t that I picked up from him and one from brokereefer he's the names sorry If I dont spell them right .

1) Krytonite Candycane
2) green hawaii pronto
3) red cap
4) org cap
5) Birds nest
6) pom pom xenia
7) Armor of gods
p.s
This is what I have in my tank as of now. the org cap /b-nest bleach on me but I was told that some time cap come back they just need time Im see color on the b-nest and org cap so I guess there right its slowly coming along I just have lots and lots of concerns with the other corals ? I have a small 6 gallon nano tank by Fluval edge with MH lighting but I took out the water and sand left the filter with all the media on it I put in some LR live sand and the water I took out from my 72 bo tank when I did the water change sat. how long should I wait to star uping my corals in there I would feel better with them there seening how it has MH Im going to upgrade it in about a month with the led's I've asked around and I think I can customize it to my like and the corals as while. wow this part was just supposed to be a p.s lol :D I get carry'd away some times. I could use the help so if you have any input let me know and when Im ready Ill pay you a visit Jeff.

thanks everyone in advance for all the help.

I grew a pretty big orange cap with PC lighting. But,I will say that not all PC lights are the same.I had a JBJ 260 watt that put out lots more light than coralife junk does.
Anyways,I agree that you water parameters are probably off.
Not having a simple $8 alk test kit from API is a BIG negative.
Also, why are you dripping corals?JMO,but only snails should be drip acclimated.
All others should have water added to the bag or container till half is your water. This should take 1/2 tops.
Then the coral taken from the water and placed low in the tank at first.
