Is it true that HQI light usually burn LPS ? I have hammer coral up top and 2 out of 5 branchs died already.

Can someone post picture of coral being burned by too much light ?

Thanks !!!

Pong

Well, MH can burn all corals in short order if the UV shield is damaged or non-existent, but I assume that's not the case. Any type of light can be too powerful for any type of coral depending on the placement. I have had SPS bleach on the tips before because it was too high up in the tank. Speaking in VERY broad terms, your LPS will like MH less than T5, although you can keep LPS with MH.

i use MH and have never had a problem with " burning ". i have a 14 head hammer half way up and he is great. always open and looking good. i also keep a flower anemone at the very top and never a problem. maybe another problem other than burning.

My hammer is dying one head at a time. At first it would shrink up to little tiny spec then turn a little white and then fall off. It doesn't have a melting effect when it fall off. I don't know what's going on.

Move it lower in the tank.
