Yup, that is what Bangaii Cardinals do. The male carries the young in his mouth until they are big enough to fend for themselves.

The male will not eat the entire time he is carrying the babies. This is one way you can tell early on that they have them.

That is why the original post was edited, I had taken the pictures down so I could enter them in a photo contest but then decided to just post them.

My glass cardinals are mating all the time. I see the male with the distended jaw, not eating but I've yet to see any eggs in his mouth nor babies. After a while he's back to normal and eating again.

Babies were gone the day after I took the photo. Saw one hiding under a piece of rock last night. Couldn't find any today.
