Fish Goo (now with tasting video)- June 2011

how much shrimp we talking about. i have a bag of frozen uncooked that i use as mantis food and i could bring some.

The meaty items are what makes the goo a "larger" batch. A lot of small things like flake and granular foods we need less of as they are fillers. Shrimp, clams, squid, and other meaty things are important and we need more of that than anything else.

In other words, we'll need more of these items than the "small and compact" things.

nice :) well, ill bring at least a measuring cup and a half worth :) it does have a little formula 1 flakes mixed in too, hope that is ok...

I updated the list above. If I missed a post, reply in thiis thread with a quote to this post so I will be less likely to miss it. :)

Anyone else care to participate?! Making the goo is a a bonding experience in itself with your fellow reefers.

so i take it you all have made this before... what is a good type of container to bring with me in order to bring some home? i am thinking a speciman cup??? or do we have some small containers supplied by the club? jus thought i would ask for the heck of it... i'll bring a sealable container regardless myself...

You can certainly bring your own container. We used to have ziploc bags on the list, but someone brought a lot of them during the January meeting and we have some left over. Some people like to lay the ziploc flat in the freezer and break off chunks to feed the tank. Others like to take it home and put into a small ice cube tray and then have cubes of food to feed. I guess it depends on what you have for freezing. This is something that should last you a little while if we make enough of it. We've done this three times this calendar year and everyone who contributed had a baggie to bring home.

I've done this quite a bit since I've been in the club. Some people make their own goo at home. It's a smelly and messy process, hence the reason we try to organize it so the smell isn't in our homes. The club has a designated food processor for the job too.

I can't wait to make fish goo my fish coral and anemone love it and it works out good laying the zip locks flat.

I'm pretty stoked too :) I've never made my own food... my Banggai's and purple tang are gonna go nuts on it I am sure lol...

Sounds like a zip bag of sorts is the way to go...

Peter, we have both from previous goo-making. We also have someone signed up for garlic this time around.

Can you update the list so we know what's needed? Thanks

I thought I had! People,when I ask a question like that, please point out that I neglected to save my work!!! Geez!!::

Darn kids...so distracting sometime. :rolleyes::o

Sorry Peter. It's all set now.

BTW, I just jumped about 6 inches off my chair because I was carefully redoing what I know I've typed before and Greg yells out "SCORE!!!" I was concentrating on the thread, not the game. LOL
