Update #7: Replumbing the tank
So, after consulting a few members on the board, I came to the conclusion that I needed to replumb the tank to reduce noise. The hard PVC was making an aweful racket, and the reverse Durso just didn't cut it. I installed a Durso and a reverse Durso, upped the plumbing from 1" to 1 1/2" from the 1" bulkhead, used sanitary Y tees instead of straight tees, and used 1 1/2" spa FlexPVC. Haven't filled it with water and tested the system. I'll probably take care of it tomorrow if I'm not working.
