A cool idea "Coral Sharing"

Keep track of who you gave stuff to as I found out the hard way when restarting my tank that nobody I had given frags too returned the favor and I didn't know where anything had gone. I was lucky enough to have quite a few friends that I had given frags to that helped me out and a few members that stepped up and helped out even though I had never given them anything except for maybe a good deal in the past.

That said you are obviously welcome to any frags from me in the future as is anyone else that has helped me along the way.

Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I had two corals you don't see often that I gave to someone no charge with the agreement that I would get a small frag back when I restarted. Unfortunately, they don't remember the agreement:mad:

I think for the good members, and there is a lot, this is a good idea. Thankfully there have been enough great members to help me get going again and get some of the nice stuff I had.

I have a basic outline ready to be critiqued for anyone interested in seeing something like this take off in an organized fashion. PM me and we can talk. The more input the better before making a draft of something like this public/ready to be presented to the whole club

Glad to see some liked the idea and the discussion, to clarify, it isn't MY idea, just wanted to point out that they were using it in CT.

my personal opinion is to give what you get. Some members here have been FANTASTIC to me in hooking me up with gear and so on, so whatever I have, I have tried to do the same, giving frags at meetings and so on. If those folks had a crash, I would give them whatever they wanted to help out. That is just being a good reefer.

I realize no one is going to be passing out free frags of Ice Fire or super LE stuff, but for more basic corals I am sure something could be worked out.

Two things, one, I would say that bugs/infections should NOT be a problem since EVERY person in on this kind of thing is responsible for their own QT/dipping procedures, so if you get free stuff and you get bugs, its on you I suppose. And two, if anyone has a crash, I would want to know that the source of the crash was something like power loss or heater failure and not some negligence, cause no one wants to give free corals and send them to their deaths!
