About to take the plunge

Hi guys. My name is Cano. I live in EP, RI. I'm almost ready to take that step into a saltwater setup and I was told this is place to be in order to learn and do things right from the beginning. A little bit about me. I've been keeping fish for most of my adult life. In the last 5 yrs I fell in love with African cichlids. Started off breeding Malawi cichlids and quickly switched over to tanganyikans. I'm a huge tropheus addict. I currently have a large colony of tropheus ilangi, a small colony of tropheus Bemba, 10 mpimbwe frontosas, 12 orange mwela compressiceps and a pair of leulupi.
If all goes well I will start my first saltwater setup in the spring. Needless to say I'm here to learn and hopefully make some new friends along the way.

Welcome to the BRS! Ask all the questions you want you will find that they will all get answered here. You should try and make the Dec meeting it is going to be a good one!

Welcome aboard MrFlow :-) I'm also a local Rhody. It's a great site here, informative meetings too. Our marketplace section should help you get you started too

Welcome Aboard! Ask away and we will see you around.

Just read as much as you can and ask all questions you can think of and you will do fine.

Please use a fishless cycle as well. Welcome!:w

Hello Cano and welcome!!! You planted yourself in an amazing family of saltwater hobbyists. Glad to have you join us and hope you feel at home. So many resources here you should utilize. As Jason said checkout the marketplace. There you can find ideas and sales of the proper equipment for what would fit your needs and hopefully your budget to get that tank going.

From there it's always fun to read through the introductions and see others setups and plans. Reef talk will help you with all the general info you need. Some of it basic and some of it detailed and intense. Please feel free to use as as your crutch on this amazing journey.
