acan question

I was just cleaning my tank and noticed my manderin didn`t move out of the way of the scraper.(unusual)I turned the atinics on and saw that he was trying to move, but the orange acan had swallowed 1/4 inch of him. I got him out his tail is partially digested. He seems to be fine. Are acans known to do this ? Also, do you think the cleanup crew will detect the wound and try to finish him off.

If he can swim then the CC crew probably wont be able to catch him.. Good luck with him, might want to try and move him into a safe place for a few weeks to let him heal up

An acan will try to eat anything if it can. I've fed mine silversides before and they've digested them. And if the injury is preventing the mandarin from swimming normally the CUC might be able to grab on and eat it, but as long as the injury isn't too bad and it can swim normally it shouldn't be a problem (provided all the CUC is really reef safe, I've had a non reef safe hermit sold to me as reef safe that ate anything it could get it's claws on including coral :( )
