acan question

i was wondering if you could put different acans on the same rock. i have a big rock in the center of my tank that has plenty of holes for reef plugs. can you put different acans on the rock like you could with zoos or rics or will they sting one another. i just think it would be cool to have a huge rock with three or four different acans on it.

If they are the same kind, lords with lords or echinata with echinata they should be all set. I only have lord's and a lot of them are touching with no problems...

thanks i was actually hoping you would chime in. i see you give a lot of advice to people about their acans. nice looks like i'm going to have an acan lord rock once i get the algae off of it.

instead of starting a new thread i just figured i'd put this here. i got four new acan frags at brass this weekend. i epoxied the frag plugs to a big rock in my tank. the goal is to have the acans grow over the rock and have a huge cool looking rock. i've noticed a lot of people start theirs out in the sand. i have a pistol shrimp so i think that they would get covered w sand constantly. is it ok that they are on the rocks. i was going to move them today but they all look great nice and open. i was just wondering if this was wrong to do and if i should of started them in the sand or does it really matter as long as they are doing well. sorry for the long post. i'm trying to find my cord so i can put pics of them up on the computer but i can't find it.

You can put them on the rocks with no problems. most of the time people put them on the sand because that is the appropriate lighting level for them in many tanks. Also, if you do put tem on the rocks. Make sure that they are secured tightly, as if they are to be knocked off the rock and into the sand they could surely die after a few hours upside down in the sand.

Dave,

you almost forgot, that they should also be from the same collection area. I have had Aussie lords and Indo lords fight...Kind of the same way some Euphyllias can touch no problem and other times they fight

they are all lords so i hope they don't get into any fights. there is a ton of epoxy, i may have got a little overzealous with it lol. i don't think they are going anywhere. the tank is in my bedroom so i look at it a lot so hopefully if anything goes wrong i'll be able to catch it. thanks for the advice it's appreciated.

is there a way to tell if you have aussie or indo acans? would there be a problem with micros and lords or is that also regional issues?
