I feel like i cant believe any single test kit? Im i doing some thing wrong or are my kits off? elos is off compaired to salifert, or is salifert wrong?

I use 2 different ones.
Salifert and API.If something seems off I'll use the other to double check.
I only check weekly and sometimes bi-weekly other than water changes. My parameters remian pretty rock solid.

I read that Elos can be way off if the dropper bottle isn't held vertically.

I was wondering which test kit to go with. I saw a saltwater test kit and a reef test kit which one should I get or should I just buy both I've been looking all over for a all in one test kit but nothing yet. can someone point me in the right direction?

Salifert had some serious issue and I have never heard those issue do not still exist. I have totally switched over to Elos with good consistent test results.

Although I miss the ease of use Salifert offered 100PPM from one their test test kit to another of their test kits was totally unacceptable.

I find API to be guessing at best.

Are you going to keep a reef tank, or fish only?

I still use Salifert and think it's still the best, like before.
And API,well that's right there also.I mean how accurate do you need to be???
If I'm 50 ppm.........i'm good.
Cause it's not the test kit always, probably your use of it.

seachems have been good for me. I've used elos and I don't like the color grading. It throws me off.

I think the big issue with salifert is they are not consistent. Not only were my cal and mag off over 100 compaired to Elos but when I tested with 2 saliferts I did not get the same reading.

I think the most reliable kits on the market are the Hach or Lamotte kits. I use Elos and have used Salifert in the past as well. Salifert are ok now if the kits come with a reference standard (just what I have read, have not used them since the problems). Then you know they are new batches and should be accurate.

I also really liked the seachem reef status kits. A bit pricey but they come with reference standards as well to make sure the kit is functioning properly.
