Adding color to the softy's tank some carpets did the trick. Ultra color

OK B I was going to leave this alone but I know you so this is a joke up front. Brian do you have anemones in that amazing SPS tank, or did you have one in the stone age.

Serious: I have read that these are the most difficult to keep but also know a few people that have them. I know they are bleached from shipping. As for Cindy's commits which one were you going to point out? Can be a learning experience for me. As this hobby moves forward we can now keep harder animals in our tanks and breed in captivity look back when the average person could not keep a tank like yours. SPS was not possible a long time ago. I myself had some ups and downs with SPS. The truth is we all have had something go wrong with are tanks and learned from it. Now were is my SPS Brian? Something along a fist size please.

Well.................Even I have ....a long long long time ago.... (Geeeesh....before I even had a reef tank) dabbled in "sewer pots" Imagine that?? Do you think I started out of the gate with sps? I was first into softies, than lps & I got heavy into sps..(though today I still wouldn't consider my tank as an sps only dominated tank) I have a very very mixed tank...from many lps , softies & also sps....There is a pretty close balance of all three...(but when I got into sps heavy I did lean toward an imbalance in sps that has taken a curve over the last few years)
I wasn't raining on ur parade....But if you post a pic of a bleached out "sewer pot" you better be ready to hear from some of us longtime reefers!! It was just a statement on the concern level since there were so many people chiming in on how they loved the color... We need to keep in perspective for the newer reefers what is good & what should be a concern in our livestock we keep. So often you see someone post a pic of a new coral or creature that is pretty breathtaking only to find out it isn't the real look of that said creature or coral...People who have been in the hobby long enough already know what is good & what is something to raise concern.. (the ones who have been reefing long enough have either seen this before or possibly got duped way back from a LFS when they began reefing)

I know personally I got burned a few times early on with certain livestock. (& I bought it for a color which was not a conventional color only to later find out the extreme color was due to stress!!!)

So pretty much...That is the only reason I chimed in...Please don't get discouraged....

I hope it works out for ya...Please keep us posted...;)

BTW......No Soup for you!!! LOL...J/K

one of these days we'll hook up....

Brian well said. I did not think about people that are new to this and might think there were not bleached as mention they do look cool as hell.;)

Yes I will let you know when I'm ready for some sps again. Then we can hook up soon.

if you were confortable with your manhood it wouldn't bother u. don't worry I won't be winking at you!! :)

Wondering how they are doing.

Wondering how they are doing.
Cindy,
Knock on wood, they are doing great, the mouths are still closed and turning brownish as is the hole body tips are still vivid. I am not feeding them directly, but I do feed frozen mixed every day into the tank and they do get food that way. Also they have not moved or shifted from were they were placed. If you have any input please let let me know what I should do. What I do notice is that the clown is sleeping in the yellow carpet and it seems to be bigger/healthier for some reason. I think this is helping so was thinking of getting a smaller perc for the other because I have notice size increase in the yellow. The clown does go back and forth. I will take pictures and post.

Just took the pictures a few minutes ago mouth was a little open for what ever reason but you can see the color darken.

thats cool.....i want one.

if it is filling itself with more water it is not necessary a good thing, but i can certainly tell you that if the tentacles gets longer and longer is definately a good thing. that is what you want to look for.

my 2 cents.

THanks I remember reading this when I was looking for a red H. Carpet. I think this has to be one of the best magazines and it's free.
