algea probleam,please help .... :(

I had may 50gl with LR for about seven months with a double pc light,one 96w 10k ,one 96w atnic,then i decided to upgrade the pc light fixture to a t5 with six bulbs,3 39w 10k,3 39 atnic,that was tree weeks ago and now i'm having algae groing in the walls of the tank.I went to skiptons and got 6 turbo snails and12 nasssarius,there's also a yellow tand and a algae blenny in the tank,but i'm still having the algae probleam.
I was using tap water up until i got the t5 fixture but now i by RO water at skiptons,but still i get algae in the walls of the tank...what should i do to get rid of the algae ?

Try switching back to your old lights. If the Algae subsides then you know the wavelength of light is the culprit. I had a friend that had a similar problem and just by changing bulb brands reduced his algae problem. Did you change anything else? Feeding habits, food or additives?

When you say algae on the walls do you mean green film on the glass? If so, that is what a mag-float is for. I don't think there are to many tanks that do not get film algae.

T5's are better than PC's so do not switch.

How long do you run your lights? Have you tested phosphates?

It does not matter for how long i run the lights for,after a couple of hours it starts developing again. (I'm new at this).I use a mag-float to scrub it off once a day at least,comes off easely,seams slymie...and yes it's green!!!!
The only thing i changed was the light fixture and from tap water to RO water.

1. Actually it does matter. If you are new, maybe you have a lighting cycle to long as to why I asked. Was the fixture new or used?

2. Mag-float is a magnet that has a rough side inside the tank so you can just drag it and it cleans film algae off the glass. Works great except for hard coraline that may need scaping. 3. You may have a mix of cyano from your description but I picture is needed for ID and then help to eliminate it. If it is cyano, something is off such as overfeeding, excess Phosphates(Did not answer my question..have you tested phosphates??!) Some just get it anyway but there is ways to prevent it. Maybe you do not have enough flow? Cyano is redish but slimey. For green it could be film, or hair like a plant?

4. Skiptons is a good LFS but have you checked the water with a TDS meter? It may be cheaper to purchase your own unit.

How often do you feed? How many fish total? YT's even get big for a 50. Overstocking will lead to excess nutrients and=algae.

Are you using a skimmer?

If you have just switched from tap to RO water, then you will still have a lot of residual tap water in the system. When I switched to RODI from tap, I had a bit of an algae bloom too. My tank is over 2 years old and very stable, and I still get the green algae on the glass nearly every day.

Please list out a few more tank parameters

1. fish stocking list besides the tang ans blenny
2. Water parameters (nitrate, PH, Alk, CA, MG)
3. Basic equipment list (Skimmer? Sump? Fuge?)
4. What you currently dose to the tank

The answers to these questions will be able to tell us a lot more about your system, and what may be causing the algae.
