Anemone going bad!

I purchased a purple tip anemone Sunday from the LPS. Yesterday my wife found it face first in the sand and moved it back to the LR. This morning I found it face first on the rock! What should I do?! My water is good. I'm keeping frogspawn with no problem. HELP!!!

is it also known as white sebae anemone? if it is it probably isn't going to survive

If the mouth is not gaping then find a cave and place it in it. Trying to place it in the open often leaves them blowing around the tank.

Sebae anemones ones that are white with purple tips are stored in dark place to bleach them white for selling factor. If it is a Sebae you can try getting it to eat small food like mysis and nurse it back but it is a long shot.

I had one that did well for a short time and eventually died. Unfortunately, I didn't know of the bleaching process and the stress it puts on them.

I put a white(bleached) sebae in my 14 cube about 5 weeks ago and it was doing the same thing. It is now coloring up from white to a nice light brown and my clarki clowns are hosting it. What I found IMO is they hate too much flow first off. I have just the BioCube circulation pump providing flow right now, when I had my koralia nano running it was all over the place. Second is placement. I made a bunch of live rock "holes" for it to sit in.

Just my thoughts. What kind of tank,flow and lighting you running? Parameters?

I placed it in a baggy to keep it away from any crabs that might be hungry for it. Will the light hurt it? And will placing it in a low flow area be a good thing to do?

I looked online before hand and I was under the impression that it wanted a lot of light and good flow.

Take it out of the bag!! It will stress it and starve it for O2. Place it in a low flow area and leave it to move where it wants. Better yet cup in in some LR in a low flow area and leave it alone for at least a few days. Yes, bright light will stress a bleached sebae and it is best ot let it acclimate and slowly regain it symbiotic alge.

You may also want to shut off your power heads till it attaches, They love to eat anenome's.

They do like a lot of flow and light, when they are healthy and settled in. But they make that decision not you. It is white because it was left in the dark for a long time, so a lot of light right off the bat most likely isn't going to go well.

Take it out of the bag and stop messing with it.

Make sure you cover any PH intakes with a good cover, so if it goes floating it doesn't get chopped up.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've been pming with gajopo who has had success in bringing one back to life.

He's out of the baggy (sorry) and I've placed him in a rock that has a little curve or dip to it. I put the rock behind a bigger rock to reduce the flow going by him.

Could set it in an old tuperware bowl somehwere in the tank and it'll move out when it feels better.

That's not cool...pretty sad that stores would even offer them for sale knowing that.

As you can see, no matter what I do it goes face down into the rock.
He is on the rock and just doesn't look like he has improved at all. Though he hasn't gotten worse since this morning.

Just leave it be, keep some decent flow on it and hope for the best.

Small food like cyclopeze might help if it can still feed. But don't target feed it just feed close to it, best bet is to not stress it anymore than it already is..
