I want to get a foxface for my reef (210 gal)to help with some red turf algae clean up, but I've been reading mixed reviews with them being reef safe. Anyone have any problems with them?

I had one and it was safe but you are right that I have heard of other people that had problems with them.

Never had a problem with mine. He is a very good citizen!

Thanks.. the guy at tropical island looked at me like I had three heads when I told him I had read about them not being reef safe. Said they are far more reef safe than any of the dwarf angles and I would have no problem at all putting one in a reef. So far I've heard no first hand accounts of someone having a problem with one. Just people, like me, that have read they could be a problem. I guess I'll see how my turbo snails do at cleaning up the algae, and then spring for a foxface if need be. That is unless of course someone tells me they had a problem with one.

i would assume that their like those reef safe angels....its gonna be a hit or miss.....but i have seen them in many reef tank.......

I have one in mine and she's constantly grazing the rocks for algae. She'll occasionally nip at corals but realizes it's not algae and then moves on.

I have a fox face in my reef for 6 or so months now. I've had no problems every now and then it will give a nip at a sps but always moves and never causes any damage to the coral

Had a decorated eat a patch of tubs blues and a two bar eat and 5 inch green leather tree.

I won't be buying foxfaces anymore.
