anyone keep these sand crabs?

As above is anyone out there keeping these in there tank and with any success? How big of a tank are they in, thanks.

I've seen them along the shoreline on Wasque Point, Martha's Vineyard. But I've never seen them elsewhere. It's funny to watch them scurry into the wash.

I catch them and use them for bait in Florida when I'm surf fishing and they are great for that. I'm not sure how they would be in a tank, just wanted to see if anyone keeps them.

Something's gotta eat 'em. I've seen a fly pattern for them. It looked like a relatively easy tie.

I think they may also be called Mole crabs. I have found them up to about 2 inches on Marthas vinyard. they do burrow very quickly in sand

down in florida they go by sand fleas, think they would have any benefit in a reef tank?

They would most likely do a good job at moving your sand around, not shure if you have a DSB or not, but they might not be beneficial in that case. I read that they tend to burrow, which might cause a problem, your rocks might shift.

If you have a QT tank, you could order them ( they are cheap enough & Free shipping) and throw them in there for while, and see how they do.

the only predator in a reef tank would be a popio but i dont think people ahve big enough tanks on this site to house them like 3000+ gallons wide open swimmers. They are sand fleas or large scuds they would just move the sand around but they scavenge.
