Anyone With Aiptasia Problems, Read This

So there seems to be people on the forum constantly looking for solutions to aiptasia problems. Everyone seems to have very mixed results with peppermint shrimp, and a lot of people can't use these guys anyway (they rip food from LPS and target fed corals, they're ugly, etc.).

Kalk paste, lemon juice, Joe's Juice, Aiptasia-X all work temporarily, but the aiptasia always seem to come back...I have tried them all. Plus, many aiptasia are out of reach and can't be zapped anyway.

The answer is definitely Berghia Nudibranch's.

I have a 30G tank, and I only had 3 aiptasia (that were very large) and all it took was ONE Berghia ($20) to eat them all in less than a week.

The ONLY thing Berghia's eat is Aiptasia. They are very tiny, so you won't even see them, they won't steal food from your corals, and they don't do anything except eat aiptasia.

I put the berghia in last Sunday, by Thursday all the Aiptasia were gone.

You have to put the Berghia in with the lights off, or some fish will try to eat them. And put them close to aiptasia so they don't take long to find it.

This is definitely the way to go to rid yourself of aiptasia. Skipton's sells them.

the only problem with the nudibranch is after they eat all the aiptasia they will starve to death. aiptasia-x has always worked fine for me. with the help of my shrimp

They do not eat Mojanos. Literally the only thing they eat is aiptasia.

They only live a few months regardless...I know it sucks that they starve.

Aiptasia x cost around $15 bucks why kill something for only 3 aiptasia???? Aiptasia x would last you all year at that price.

Would you like to sell yours so it doesn't starve? I have a few snacks for it ;)

If you read my initial post, you would have seen that I have used Aiptasia-X. I have a whole bottle of it. You are welcome to have it, because in my experience, and everyone else's I have talked to about Aiptasia-X says the same thing...the Aiptasia always come back. The same one, not a new one. The stuff doesn't work. Furthermore, you cannot always get to the Aiptasia depending on where it is.

These Berghia's have a very short lifespan in the wild...

A lot of people have pm'd me for the Berghia...Dave is first in line, but these things are near impossible to see ever again once they are in your tank. It took me two days to get ONE from Skiptons, and that was in a 10G tank with only one piece of rock in it.

I had like 15 of them once and I had them in a small tank that i put live rock with aptaisia in for them to eat. They ate the aptaisia and disapeared into the rock. I put the rock in my tank and that was the last I saw of them. Still have plenty of aptaisia over a year later.....No nudies.....

Peppermint shrimp aren't ugly! :-P

I must be the exception.I've had one aptasia that I quickly killed with Joes juice.
Have never seen another one.

Lucky son of a b**** :p

I know. With all the different places I've gotten coral,I figure that there would be some.....but nothing.
I do however have a lot of small vermitid snails and asternia stars. And brown rhodactis mushrooms that are near impossible to kill.
And all of them can bother corals at times.
