Anyone with an Aquapod 12 or 24G nano?

I'm breaking down my 75, but I just hate the thought of going without a reef entirely. I've been looking around all the nano forums and found that the aquapod is a pretty good deal with the 70 or 150watt hqi. ANyone here have one, had one, seen one? I'm mostly interested in the open top ones that have the Sunpod (HQI)...are they really tough to keep consistent water quality? Do you run a skimmer? Thanks and I hope this hasnt been discussed ad nauseum.

It does not seem like a bad deal. I just found a 70w HQI package for around 330 something..

If you get like a 12g size I would think the 70 HQI would be enough and avoid heat issues? I know alot of people go skimerless with the small water volume and PWC's.

I was never a nano person but I like the cubes. I really like the Oceanic ones for some reason. You just have to realize you will be limited but if you can control yourself and can be a pretty cool setup. If it were me I and I only had that much room I would just fill it with not so common corals and a coupe o clowns!

btw, I think JenC is selling a JBJ model and you could always get a pendant.

I like the M-Tank a little more because of the sharp straight lines of it, I think it looks a bit sharper. Also I think it's a little easier to keep clean. They have glass tops that cover about 60% of the top if you want to use them (I don't).

As for maintaining it, I find it pretty easy. Water params have stayed pretty level. I only really have softies in it though w/ the PC's. If you have the space the 22 (the one I have) is 16.5" tall by 18" H x 18" deep, thats excluding the skimmer and light.

You can get the 24 gallon 70 HQI for $279 or the 24 gallon 150 HQI from Drs. F&S for $329 and the shipping is ridiculously low. Whole thing come to under $350 for the tank with the 150 HQI Sunpod.

I just set mine up and the only downside I can see is you have very limited room in the back, so if you're used to having a sump with lots of room for toys you're going to have to limit what you add like skimmer, refugium, circulation, etc. You could always hang stuff off the back, but I'm resisting that temptation since it seems to kill the whole "all in one" idea. The M-tanks do look like they have more room, but the price of the Aquapod was too good to resist.

You might want to look at Cadlights also. That tank looks very nice.

i just picked one of these up this week from fosters and smith. The first one came in broken and I have to go through the hassle of sending it back now. But they did second day air me a new one.

As was said before, there isn't a ton of room in the back but I think there is a nano skimmer from tunze that will fit. I will probably get one later on when I have some extra money.

Skiptons in Boston has one set up if you wanted to see it in person before you buy it. They have the 70 Watt version though. The 150 seems a little bluer in my opinion.

What is the going rate on the AquaPod, seems to vary a bit. I know the M-Tank was around $250 for the 22 w/ the Skimmer, glass tops and PC lighting. Then you have the option for the MH, T5 is not an option for the 22 only the 30.

I posted a pick a week or so ago of the first one they sent me. Totally destroyed in shipping. They didn't second day air my second one, but they also didn't ask me to send the first one back, and they told me to keep the first Sunpod and sent me another.

Wow, those cadlight tanks are very very nice. I love the open top, but I feel like I would just spend too much money on it buying a nice giesemann light and all that crap. I would be right back where I started, just 50 gallons short. The aquapod seems like a better idea since its more of an all-in-one type of thing. Thanks for the opinions, I'm still thinking about the whole situation.
