Went to HD, told me they no longer carry. I bought, "Plumbing Epoxy Putty." Says rated safe for "Potable Water Contact."

Can I use?

Somebody? I need to mount some corals bad...

Why do you buy your epoxy at HD?
Why not go to the LFS and then you'll know it's safe.
I've used Marineland 2 part........works ok.
Makes the skimmer go crazy though.
I'll be surprized if you get a"greenlight"here on that.
I mean seriously Tom,nobody wants to take the wrap if it hurts your stuff.

Indeed! FWIW, I still use the Aquamend for some things, but I have to say that long term for some applications I wish I'd used something else. The 'white' color of the Aquamend tends to stand out, and in some places in my tank I don't get much coraline growth, so it looks white forever. Red, purple, or gray would not stand out as much.

Greg, the new stuff is grey. Looks like the commercial stuff you buy. Says for plubing repairs and is potable water safe. I understand nobody would ever want to say yes and then have my tank ruined/

"Plumbing-Hand Modable-NSF Approved
for Potable water Epoxy putty stick, industrial strength"

"Safe for lines carrying potable water."

So, not worth it Greg? Wish I had the aquamend label to read what it says.

Tom, I just finished a tube of Aquamend...when I get home I'll see if I still have the container and will snap a picture for you. I agreed the white color of Aquamend stands out too much.

I won a free tube of epoxy from the meeting door prize, this one is purple so it blend in really nice with the rockwork. I'll snap a picture of that too.

Tom... I have some Aquamend.

Michael

Thanks all. I actually went ahead and probably very irrationally took a risk and all was well.
