ASM Mesh Mod..check!

Just a quick plug about the ASM/Euroreef (or any needle wheel pump skimmer for that matter) mesh mod. I'm running an ASM G3 on my 210 gallon which I'm converting to a reef. I'm going to try to invest in a better skimmer but no loot to do so at the moment. So, I just did the mesh mod last night hoping to get better skimming until I can afford another. The mod took me 15 minutes, cost me about $11 and the performance increase is noticeable immediately.

Anyway, a very late, probably unnecessary, +1 on this mod. If anyone was like me, reading all the great things about this mod, and still afraid to destroy his needle wheel - take the plunge. Wish I did it sooner.

I wouldn't even bother with a mesh mod on my G2 at the moment.
It does just fine with the gate valve and recirc mods.

go to meshmod.com, has a package with a smaller amount of mat, enough for about 4-6 mods worth. I believe it costs more to ship than the item, but they are right in NH so gets to you fast also.....

The Octopus skimmers come with needle wheel, a mat to make a mesh mod and a propeller for whatever reason. Three options included with the product.

I first did the recirc mod...wanted more dwell time and more control over it.
Then added the mesh mod, and the bubble size was cut in half.
I didn't like the idea of cutting the wheel up either, but will soon cut up the spare wheel to make an easy swap when the time comes. Great mod.

I meshed my euroreef and it makes a huge difference.

A few club members have a bunch of the enkamat. Perhaps you could get it from them.

But do the gate valve mod also.
