depending on your nutrient load ,the skimmer will skim at that point easily, when its broken in.
Once my tank had cycled and the nutrients dropped i had to raise my riser past the cup.
You can do this easily by just loosening the wing nut and leaning the riser out a little and slide it past the cup.
thje top of my t now sits 1/4 inch above the upper edge of the white base of the cup.
My water level is around 1/2 inch above the base of the cone.
But the skimmer just won't skim whatever you do until its ready

Liam that helps... I'm going to raise my water level in the sump and raise the riser above the cup like you have... It's good to get feedback from someone who has the same skimmer.

How fast does that sock get filled up Liam? I don't have one over mine... maybe I should?

i used a regular filter sock to start and that clogged way too quickly.
This one works nicely, stops the splashing and catches some particulates.
Its been on a week now,no restriction in flow yet and its now due for a rinse.
