Atlantis Marine World purple acro with green polyps - Who has it?

skatezen

If you pick it, Flick it!
I was talking to Joe from AMW and someone in BRS has a frag of the purple acro with green polyps that they bought at an auction. I got a frag from Joe at a local swap in NY about 2 weeks ago. It is encrusting nicely, but has poor polyp extension. I know he has NSW and that is pretty hard to beat, but I was wondering about the lighting/flow requirements of the BRS frag.

TIA,
Jeff

Hi Jeff -
I am pretty sure that I was the one who got that coral. It is a real eye-catcher. ... I had forgotten the origin of this coral, but now that you ask I remember that I bid on a bunch of stuff at that auction -

It has been a slow grower and the polyps are very very small - but electric green. I will take a picture tonight and post tomorrow and we can compare notes.

Paula

Paula, I think this is the one that Darren and Liam got into a bidding battle on? The frag sold for over 100 bucks I think

Oh and if THAT is the one, I got a frag of it when I was at NERAC and it was growing well in one of my frag tanks but polyp ext and color was not that hot so I moved it up to my main tank and it seems to be doing the same maybe a little less growth and color but it is up high in my tank and I am going to try to move it down.

Ray that sounds like the one. He mentioned a frag of it sold for over $100. Who got it Liam or Darren?

Paula, if you have a frag of it too I would love to see it and know your lighting/flow.

Darren won the piece in the auction.
I got a frag of it from Joe Yaiullo while i was at Atlantis and i am holding another frag of it for Scott Merrill.
Upon arriving home and inspecting the frags i found they had red bugs so they were treated accordingly.
I hope you guys treated yours:eek:
But i have one in the display and one in the frag tank, lowish light seems to be key but both are showing little or no polyp extension and neither colored back up after treatment although the one in the frag tank is beginning to..
I believe the one Paula got was a slightly different acro which has only purple tips ,the one i have should be solid purple

Maybe that is why I have no color from the treatment......yes everything get treated nowadays! putting something in your tank without treating it is like having sex without a condom

Liam, thanks. I have mine in QT but I didn't see any red bugs, guess I'll go look. If Paula's is from atlantis I have a frag of that one too it's like a steal colored turquoise w/ purple tips. Very nice piece as well!

got a pic for that?

i just looked at the one in my display, its getting there.I agree this coral seems very sensitive to the dipping,Darren reported the same.

Did you dip with just interceptor?

I treated with both as well, mine is also in VERY high light, maybe I should move it down.

Now that you mention it . . I do remember that Darren and Liam had a bidding war on that piece. What a beautiful piece it was.
This is the one that I have, and it is purple all the way down to the base with gorgeous electric green polyps. It is just getting back to its former lustre after the move.
Maybe this is from Greg? I am really losing my memory . .. I should keep better notes.
Terrible picture, but you get the idea.

I was eyeing that piece when you had the move.

I'm thinking to myself I wonder if she miss it if it went home with me:D.

Is this what you guys are talking about?

Hard to tell your frag is still very small.

Paula that is one awesome looking acro! I don't believe it is the same one, but very nice.
