Attention anyone with red bugs

~Flighty~

Now with more baby
If you havn't treated yet, could I look at your tank with the light form the meeting? I've been thinking of ways this new technology could help the hobby, and being able to light up redbugs would be super for detection. Some crawly critters light up like christmas lights, while others are black. We might luck out and discover a detection method and a possible aid in knowing if your tank is clean. It also seems to show coral health pretty well, so it might help knowing where to frag and save a RTN piece.

PM me and if you don't live rediculously far away, I'll get the light to you or come check it out sometime. I won't tell anyone you're infected (I know it is a little like having a social disease).

I don't have red bugs but could you tell me more about the light? I was unable to make the meeting today because I had no heat this morning. Did you win a cool light or something?

It is very cool. It's a light that excites the floresence in the corals and stuff, then there is a filter that you wear on your eyes that blocks the light you are shining and only lets through the floressence. Ok, I didn't explain that well, but look at this website : http://www.nightsea.com/home.htm It has pictures :)

Which light did you get? I see several on the website. Looks really cool!

Once I get my fill of looking at my tank all night and taking it SCUBA diving, I'm thinking about renting it out for a five or ten dolar donation to the club. I'll definately take it anytime I come see a tank or go to the store.

Got the scubadiving flashlite

Oh well, they don't light up. It was worth a try.

Cindy...

They may not light up, but do they appear ANY different from the coral flesh? A dark spot? Red spot? Nothing..

Cindy, turns out I've got a pretty decent case of the Acro-itchies right now. You're welcome to stop by my place sometime for a peek if you haven't had your fill yet.

They were black spots. It was a bit harder to see them with the florescent setup than it was under normal light.
