Baby snails!

The 30g tank that I set up in early March is now a host to at least 30-40 baby snails! Currently, (I'm pretty sure), I have two Mexican Turbos, and one Astraea Turbo (I think.). The tank also hosts 5 red legged hermits that are staying out of trouble.

The other day, I was spending time giving my giant petri dish (the tank) a close-up analysis, and while looking at the tank floor, I noticed very small snails all over!

Where could they have come from?! Has anyone seen this before? I'm not so worried right now, but I can imagine that having this many snails in one tank will pose quite a problem once they're fully grown.

Any thoughts, or ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

are you sure their turbo snails? they might be common snails that reproduce.. i forgot the name for them usually they are really small and white.. any pics?

Could be Collonista Sp. They kind of look like baby turbo snails but stay small and reproduce commonly in aquariums.

Yeah, I'm guessing this is what they are. Take a look at night when these guys really come out in full force!

Hmmmmmm.....how about pointing that camera at the snails instead of that UFO?:p

LoL :) Will do. I'll take some pics of the little guys later on tonight when I get home. I'll have to find my macro lens that I know I have somewhere...

Hey if you have Collonista snails ill buy some off you :)

Seriously? You can have as many as you want from my tank. And I could probably rustle up a few bristles, baby stars, and who knows what else could be scared out of my fuge.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a hike from Saugus.

Have critters? Will travel, is my motto. For some reason I cant get enough of the creepy crawleys that roam my tank at the wee hours of the morning. Ill send ya a PM
