Best Calcium Reactor

Im looking for a calcium reactor for approximately 1200 gallons. Right now Im looking at the MRC 8618 and the Korallin 4002 reactors. Anyone have an opinion on either of these or suggestions for a better model?

I agree with Marc. My next reactor is definitely going to be a jetstream.

I also admire MTC's design.

Marc,
Do you have a schuran? How do you have it hooked up? Do you use a controller?
Thanks for the suggestion, they seem real popular with the people that have them.

i use the koralin at my work and we have nothing but problems with it. we have to adjust it almost daily for it to work right

I cannot recommend enough the Deltec fluidized reactors. No channeling of media, extremely efficient, and easy to tune because of how stable they are.

I've installed 4 and maintain 2 of them, one with a controller.
Both were easy to dial in, the design makes them easy to clean, refill and the wall mount is handy.
I'll soon be running one at home also, as my POS Deltec is broken down again and I can't seem to be lucky enough to get a return call from them. At this point even if he called me back I can't imagine I'd fix it. 4 years old and on it's 3rd pump already:mad: worse is each time it takes a month to get parts.

MRC Calcium reactor (CR-2) I have this one for over three years and knock wood it doing great.

I'm running an MTC ProCal. It has its good and bad points.

The pump. My MTC reactor uses an Iwaki 20RLT, for recirculation. The reactor doesn't require a feed pump, as the intake is tee'd from the intake of the pump. Running it 7x24 isn't saving me any money, but the use of a pressure pump as opposed to a powerhead really pushes the water through the media, so clogging up as the media dissolves isn't as big an issue as it is with other reactors.

This reactor is as close to "set and forget" as I've ever used, and I've used a bunch of commercially available reactors, like LifeReef and Precision Marine. It never gets air or CO2 locked and the drip rate never needs adjusting once it's set. It's not easily cleaned, but luckily, it only needs to be cleaned once or twice a year.

That's my .02

My Vote goes to LifeReef www.lifereef.com

I have the LCR-2 on my 120 and it works awesome....all of the plumbing parts, hoses etc....are included...all you need is the Co2 tank.

Plus for 1200 gallons Jeff at lifereef can make one custom for you..

My other vote does go to Schuran....very nice.
