Best salt

Hi, I was just curious, what do people think is the best salt mix out there? I am thinking of switching over from IO to Reef Crystals, but I wanted some more input. Preference for a bucket! Thanks all.

I like Tropic Marin used it for 17 years. Switched to IO then Coralife and regreted it. Tank just did not look as good. Using Tropic Marin Actif now. It's expensive, $95 for a 200 gallon tub. :: But I only have 60 gallon tank and change 5 gallons every five days so it will last me over 6 months.

I used IO for years then switched to Tropic Marin then finally ended up with Coralife

IO was great until they started kicking out batches with alk 18dkh ::

Tropic Marin is way overpriced and still had to adjust for proper balance.

Coralife is pretty well balanced right out of the box no adjusting it at all. Its cheap and
I have a bunch of t-shirts to work on my tank in :)

I use reef crystals now and have been looking to switch. Ive never seen so many people using the coralife, in fact Im not sure Ive ever seen it at any LFS around here. Ill have to give it a look. I used a few small containers of oceanic and it seemed alright, very fine grains and dissolved very quickly. Curious as to the problems youngreefer had.

very low calcium ph swings and alk changing rapidly, I change 10 to 15g every week or every other week in my 75g tank with 10g sump, I consistintly have calcium below 300 and ph around 7.9 and 8.0. I use seachem buffer with every change also and have to suppliment calcium

Ive always kept my levels perfect no matter the salt, but I do dose B-Ionic which keeps my pH and Ca Alk etc in check. Even my Mg and I have never dosed a Mg only additive.

petsmart carries it,44.99 for 150 gallon bucket

IMO : REEF CRYSTALS :

Once we started adding corals to my tank I noticed changes in the calcium levels and other nutrients in my tank, so I switched to Reed Crystals. Once I made the switch all of my levels became more balanced and my corals started showing better colors. this salt has a bit higher calcium and other nutrients than other salts to help make up for what the corals need and use. For the most part the salt mixes very good and fast , I have had no problems with it yet .

I've been using IO for the past 14 years. It's a little low in Ca and Mg, but that is very easy to correct.

I have played this game a bunch of times. I started with IO, too inconsistent for me. I went to coralife and am now on Tropic Marin. I will go back to coralife when my bucket of Tropic Marin is done. It's cheaper and I didn't notice any difference after switching. that said I noticed a HUGE change when making the change from IO to coralife. Polyps were better lps more puffy.

I've used IO for 10 plus years and switched to Tropic Marine(4months ago) bc all the hype and big Mistake! all my setting went crazy and went back to IO and loving it!
