best way to switch lighting

i have a 4 bulb t-5 lighting over a 38 gallon tank and i was looking into gettin a MH fixture.. 2 questions.. 1) what wattage would i need and how many bulb ( like 1 250w or 2 150 w) 2) how do i acclimate my existing coral to the more intense lighting ( do i make the lighting period shorter?

Yeah either that or if you have a way of raising your lights higher than where they are going to permanently be and slowly lowering them day by day What are the dimension of the tank?

36 wide by 18 high by 12 deep

If u don't have any sps then I wouldn.t worry about acclimating your coral to your light
