Would a blacklight work as a temporary Actnic setup?? i kno ive heard that too much Blacklighting can rip off a fish's cornea.. dont know if it is tru... but anyone have any info on this for me?? i bet corals would look amazing in Blacklights!

i would add that corals flouresence there zooxanthalea algae best under blue lighting in the 420-470 nanometer wavelength such as actinic 03 or blue lighting. i know the black light emmits lower levels of radiation so im not sure if it would be a great thing. also i dont think its the correct wavelength to penetrate the coral tissue. id love to hear other peoples thoughts on this subject.

VEry interesting to know... I'm sure there is no way coral can grow with that wavelength but i never would have guessed the wavelengths wouldnt be able to penetrate the coral itself... weird... anyway how do corals look under a blacklight?? anyone ever try even for a minute?

we had a huge party 2 weeks ago. well long story short. someone showed up with a 400w mh blacklight!! insaine. atinics are brighter. i personaly use a red leds cause most animals are blind to red light. sou can see all the strange stuff at night.

ps.. yeah its a slice of nice.

Hey good to know there Aaron.. i was wondering about that... and you think theRed Led's work the best eh??? well damn sounds good... u kno of any LEd' setups that have like all colors in one fixture...blue,green,red??

well i like em. our house is basicaly black light and red light? sigh..
so it contrasts. but for getting to see stuff i like the red. ive noticed the blacklights lightup the salt water? if you have a small b/L take a cup n hold it up to it. ittl glow. so it makes the whole tank do that with the like leathers lighting up to. kinda eere.
