What do BRS members want to see from the club? What are things the Officers and BOD can work on improving?

For context, myself and the other Officers/BODs have been working on seeing how to drive the Boston reefers mission of furthering reef keeping education, providing a sense of community for the hobby and expanding the hobby to new members. We have had a few club meetings and have our annual Fragsgiving event, but what other improvements would members and non-members like to see happen?

Yes. Same here. I understand it is Boston Reefers so the majority of reefers are closer to the city. It would be nice (and appreciated!) if some of the meets could be towards Central Mass! I would absolutely attend if I could make it.

Also, just an idea but maybe for for the Club Sponsors offering discounts to paying members. There may not be too much meat on the bone for it but worth a shot!
Cultivated Reef does a great job at this! I highly recommend them—Holly is great, and their fish come having been quarantined. I've bought two fish from them so far, and the overall quality of the delivery, livestock, and customer service has been outstanding. I think they're running sales right now actually.

Central mass for sure we can look into something in the future would be great!

Things I would like to see the group do would be more community / group based stuff. Smaller things besides just getting together. Examples:

-a ton of use Kalkwasser for Alk and Calc. Mississippi Lime sells food grade Kalkwasser for $50 for a 50lbs sack, the shipping is $70. If a bunch of use split cost, it would be $2.5 a lbs for Kalkwasser. Organize a buying a bag or two and have a gathering for dividing it up and throwing it in Ziplock bags. I have seen someone on here mention group buying stuff recently, and I think that's a great idea.

-A bunch of use have corals basic or starter corals that grow like weeds in our tanks. If someone is new in the hobby and looking for something to try in their tank, a spot on the forum were we can list "Freebies" for things we just have a ton of. If anyone wants green rhodactis mushroom or tubbs stella monti, i have more than enough to go around.

-For fund raising for scholarships and events. We all generally have higher end / nicer stuff in our tanks. Having an auction or silent auction with frags from the community. Have all the proceeds go to the scholarship or next guess speaker event fund.

Good ideas. Just hope you don't get stopped with ziplock bags of kalkwasser in your car.

I know some group buys are organized by some members individually in comparison to a club sponsored group buy…

I hear yuh on smaller more community engagement things, usually the road block for folks is having a spot and time where a good number of folks are around, hence the drive for smaller frequent events.

In my mind I love these ideas guys they will help shape what future meetings will look like for sure!

The group buys are often organized by members this way it leaves the club out of it, in case of any issues.

There is a free section already listed in the forums.
