Hey i know there is an age old debate whether or not bristleworms are beneficial for a reef tank. But i just saw a HUGE one in my 30 gallon, i estimate 8 inches long. Should i try to remove it some how or just leave him be. What are the pro's and con's with bristleworms?

Pros.... they eat crap.
Cons.... they can sting you.

If you want it out and and have a sump i would throw it in there.

I have one saw it today i want to get rid of mine, going to try the stocking trick 1st if i ever remember when at the store to get one.

they dont pose a threat to anything in my tank? i just had a clam die all of a sudden it wasnt the culprit?

Most bristle worms are scavengers, there are a few species, such as the bright red fire worm, that are believed to eat polyps, clams etc. Bristle worms are opportunistic feeders, if they can catch it they will eat it. IMO if you see them in your clam, i would have to believe the clam was already sick and the worm smelled a free meal.
