Building metal stand opinion needed on materials

Powder coating looks really nice when it is finished. But, it can chip fairliy easily. I painted my stand with truck bed liner. Autozone has Herculiner kits for around $90. Went on easily and protects really well. Or, you may be able to find a Rhinoliner place to coat it. But, again, that would be a lot more costly.

Finished welding tonight. I still need to do some grinding and of course paint/powder coat and build the wood skin.

I wouldn't even bother with powder coat if you're building a wooden skin.
I'd just slap a couple coats of Krylon on it.
What's your plans on the skin?

Not exactly sure. I have a few ideas I'm kickin around. I'd like to have the front and the side that are not against the wall removable, maybe with some magnets. Even with the front completely removable I'd like to have a set of doors on there for everyday stuff. Probably a black painted finish. I've never had much luck with stains and I already have 2 different wood tones in the room with the floor and trim.

I'm open to ideas so speak up if you have any!

Done painting. Two layers of primer and two layers of paint. Four nights to paint, had to wait 24hours between each coat.

That came out very nice for a first project! Almost looks like you've done this before!
