bulkhead leaking, suggestions please!

marco
the sump is empty (i was very fortunate!),
pursuant to merrill's advice, i was removing all my sand and rock from the sump--i was advised that the rock and sand in my sump were causing nitrate and phosphates.....so the sump was completely emptied (wet dry vac!)

...and this happened while i was trying to reattach an external pump
so, marco, now that i have an empty sump....would you still start fresh (i am leaning in that direction)

>I was advised that the rock and sand in my sump were causing nitrate and phosphates< ??? I'd do some reading on that one, Unless somehow waste is allowed to build up in the rock and DSB.
I guess that would have a lot to do with design. I always use rubble rock in my sumps, Skim first then use the rock pile and DSB to "polish" before pumping back to the main tank.
As far as phosphates go your tank can't make them, you need to introduce them food or non DI water usually but that's another subject al together.
In answer to the sump question, I would just ask myself "what if I go through all this then it fails" answer should be easy after having that talk with yourself.

i had waste build up in my sump

i fear leaks, thus, i will get another 90g...

now i have to concentrate on getting it drilled. (have somebody drill it for me)

if anybody wants a 90g with a crack, please come over....
i don't think i can leave this at the curb.
