Calcium Snowstorm... part Deux!

Well, I happened to hook up a metering pump to my AC3 for the first time last night, and woke up this morning to a snowstorm, inside my tank, instead of outside my house Not the AC3's fault though... my fault for programming it wrong

Did the math... between midnight and 8:15 this morning, I added 259ppm calcium and 16.4 meq (46 dkh)!!!

Same as Randoma... everything is covered, but the inhabitants at this point don't really seem bothered. I think I am more traumatized than the tank is.

Lots of cleaning ahead for today!

OMG I hate unexpected near disasters.

Well, math doesn't matter much when I put the entire gallon of each of the two part into the tank overnight

So that means an increase in calcium of 240ppm and 15.2meq of alk... a little better than earlier numbers...

Sorry to hear that Mark. Got to try to keep this stuff simple. Using small bottles for reservoirs is a good safety measure until you are sure your system is fool proof. Even testing the pump for the first 24 hours by just pumping from one bottle into the next is a good idea.

lol... both I suppose!

All things considered, extremely light losses. Of course, this was only one of many bad things to happen at once.. they come in three's right?

1) Snowstorm
2) 1 of 2 metal halides goes out (next day, took a week to get replacement)
3) 1 of 2 tunze streams stops working (day after that, still waiting on it to be fixed)

Combination of the above three led to the loss of one coral (my favorite coral of course... grrr)
