Can somebody PLEASE help me find an Oceanic Illuminata 57 Stand???

STiTCH87

Saltwater OCD Victim
I located an Oceanic Illuminata 57g RR tank, and it is 36x18.

The website lists a matching stand for it, but since they no longer make either item (according to everyone except the actual website)
I am having trouble finding the stand.

Here's the stand:

Size 57G Dimensions: L 37 x W 19 x H 32 UPC#: 797926603698 Item#: 60369

Can anyone PLEASE help? I hate every other stand i've ever seen that's 36x18 and if I don't find this i'll have to build custom which i'd like to avoid if I can.

My LFS sells the tank and they're looking into finding the stand too, but it'll be a few days before they can contact me back.
I figure you guys are amazing at finding things too so i'd ask for help on here.

Maybe someone has a used one somewhere?

You could try calling tropic isle, I know they still have a 57 g on the shelf, no idea if they have the stand tough.

EDIT: Just called and they only have the tank, no stand.

It's just so tough because Oceanic no longer makes the tank or stand and supposedly may stop the BioCube as well. Oceanic is going away slowly as it merges with Aqueon which is owned by Marineland I believe I was told today.

Those stands are very weak although they look really nice
You could build yourself one or get one of those kitchen or bath cabinet, add the support to hold the weight of the tank

Ther is a place in hartfort that sell them
Or contact aqua addict , he could get you one

Give Brian at A Whole New Tropical World in West Boylston a call... He doesn't deal much in saltwater (he's got some, but his store is mostly freshwater and parrots), but he does have a knack for finding and ordering things that he doesn't keep in stock. He's just a really good guy to deal with all around.

They're week? I was under the impression that they were solid wood?

And Aqua Addicts can get me one what?

EDIT: Upon research I just found out that the Oceanic stand is indeed MDF. EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welp... Looks like i'm gonna have to build myself a custom stand

FinsUp, is your 58g Oceanic by chance similar to an Illuminata 57? I wonder if anyone on this site has an Illuminata...

MDF? Whats that mean? Is the some abreviation for that crappy particle board? Definitely build one yourself with pine or better yet hardwood. It feels good to DIY.

Yes MDF is Medium-Density-Fiberboard aka crap particle board. I mean tank stands use HDF high density, but still crap. Even plywood stands concern me.

Ps my stand for my 56g (30"x 18") looks just like that minus the cutout. Bought my setup at pet smart six months ago...

unfortunately I need the specific 36x18 size

PetSmart does truly have some nice stands however... Just none my size

I've had both the oceanic 58, and the illuminata. Both have the same footprint.

Any pics of your illuminata?

How do you know your a reef nut?? When the inside of your tank is the cleanest part of you room!! LOL.

Lol true story! That's a nice tank bud! I like the corner overflow.

Turns out my LFS cannot get the Illuminata. It was ordered but they got a call back saying there's no more left.

So I am stuck getting some form of a Deep Blue. Can't decide if I want a 57g rimless, or a 60g frag, or a regular 75g, or a 80g frag, or what... LOL

I'm so lost now cuz I was depending on that Illuminata... =\

Thks. The funny thing is that I built it the way I wanted it (just like an old school oceanic overflow, back in the days before oceanic and AGA merged) but a lot of people would probably hate it if they saw it in person because it's probably just as big as the too big center overflows the new ones come with....

I've seen the deep blue 57 in person and they are virtually identical to the illuminatas. Only problem is IIRC they have some quality control issues so the advice is to only buy when you have had a chance to inspect the particular tank in person.

I have some experience with the 57g rimless. I had the deep blue 57g rimless last year but I sold it to mr Nemo88 in this forum back in February. He too had enough with the tank after just a few months and is now selling his tank also. Here is his for sale thread

The deep blue 57g is a great tank, the glass is very clear. I have to admit that the overflow box on that is too big.
The illuminate is just like the deep blue, the overflow box on the Illuminata is about 10% slimmer than the one that comes with tanks build by deep blue.
Eithery way, tanks that has big center overflow make it hard to aqua scape.

You could have Glasscages build one for you at almost the same price. Here is the tank that I just ordered from Glasscages

It just came to my mind that I recalled puppy center in Hartford do sell 57g tank. I remember they did carry the 57g reef ready in their store the last time I was there (2 months ago)

Marine depot sells mr. Aqua that has dimension of 35.4 x17.7 x17.7 which I believe should be nicer than both the Illuminata and deep blue ones and you can have them ship to your door. I had mr. Aqua tank and it was an unbelievable tank.

Hope that helps

Those more reccent glass cages tanks do look nice. History says they have a spotty reputation, but maybe they have stepped it up reccently?

Honestly, I don't even know if i'm going to upgrade my tank anymore.
Every single time I think i've found the perfect tank, I end up hating it, and I refuse to just settle for one.

I want to keep it under 65 gallons but above 30 and rimless so it's a nightmare to find.
And I don't want acrylic.
