I am just curious, if you make too big of a refugium will it hurt your system in any way?

Right now I have a 4' sump hooked up to my 180gI t has a small refugium in it. I am cycling my other 180g to tie in to the system for more volume. I added a deep sand bed to it as to keep a small sand bed in the display. Do you think planting the extra volume 180 would be beneficial harmful?

I can't see how it would be detrimental to the health of the tank. I'm currently working on adding a 50 gallon fuge to my 90 with the new sump being about 75g all together

I didnt see he problem myself.. but thought I would check, I plan on using the grape algae that my tangs love in it. I just wondered if it grew out too big if it would be robbing nutrients from the 180 display.

the damage there is done, everything is all set up I just need to plant it and tie it in to the main system now. I am also going to have my chiller and UV hooked up via the 180 fuge...

the uv may kill some nutrients, causing your plants to not grow. uvs kill the good and bad, i wouldnt use one. i think alot of people would agree, your fuge will take out the bad stuff and leave the good
