Right but I read about declaring it and stuff so I’m not really sureCrossing the border with wild animals?!?!! Hmmmm
Haven’t bought anything yet but there’s 3 or 4 cool stores here in OttawaI think you should be fine. Unless you are transporting large amounts, I don't think they deign to notice. Out of curiosity, what did you get?
So at the booth on our way out I would tell border patrol I have a live shrimp or mushroom coral etc?You can come across the border with soft corals not attached to a hard substrate/frag plug. Inverts are generally ok (anemones, snails, slugs), but all giant clams are not. SPS and LPS cannot be brought over either. Basically, anything that requires CITES documentation (basically anything with a hard shell/skeleton) cannot be brought over the border, unless you have the originating CITES documentation to show it was exported legally. Technically everything needs to be declared.
Depends on the temp the cooler gets, might want to look into a cold pack. I've gone 2 hours on a hot summer day in a cooler without cold packs and stuff was cooking by the time I was acclimatingRegardless is a 7 hour drive okay as long as it’s in a cooler?
Thank you, it was more of a consideration than anything because I just want to see if there’s anything cool or new up hereAre the mushrooms loose and floating in the bag? If they attached, you can’t bring them across.
Anyway the paper work is going to kill you.
They may impose import tax on them.
The US custom is extremely sensitive to live marine animals.
In general, not worth the efforts.

Sounds good lol that would suckI used to drive to Montreal every month. 5.5hours drive. Any time I get pulled over at the border crossing to get checked is at least an additional hour.
I went to the reef stores over there. While they're great, there's nothing I can't get here. Save your sanity and just come home without getting checked at the border.
