Just to make sure everyone is on the same page in terms of overflow problems with surge devices when using a water leveling device...
Evetually, the water leveling device could put the equivalent volume of your surge container plus the plumbing to/from it above and beyond your normal sump level. What you need to make sure you take into consideration is that, depending upon how you design your surge system, you sump needs to be able to hold the excess water that could drain from your tank in a power outage situation plus the volume I mentioned above (the surge tank plus the plumbing).
It's easy to forget that in a power outage your tank normally drains a bit anyway, so make sure you have enough extra capacity beyond THAT level to handle the extra volume from the surge device.
Realistically, it won't ever be quite that much, but I think that's the safest way to plan it.
