cheato turning white.......?

the cheato in my refugium is turning white in some places.......
what am i doing wrong?

not enough light, not enough flow or not enough nutrients.....do you trim the cheato? Trimming it and removing it is the only method of nutrient export that cheato is good for.

are you supost to cut cheato i got some from krystal and its getting huge should i cut it or just let it keep growing .... I have HOB CPR FUGE and the and when i got the cheato it was like a golf ball and 3 weeks later its the bigger than a football ball lolz should i cut some off

mine started getting some parts white and it was cuz it was growing now it huge lol

i just got it. it has gotten larger but i dont need to cut it yet. should i add a powerhead to my refugium?

think of cheato as something that holds your nitrates and phosphates.

the only way those bound nutrients come out of your system is to remove the cheato.

I'd trim the white areas and see where it goes from there

Yes!That's a good idea in this case.normally I just pull mine it apart though.

I've seen it turn white in my fuge when the water level drops low enough for it to be exposed to air...

could it be turning white from micro bubbles?

i noticed i hve some....well kind of alot going into my refugium from my skimmer..... i think they are from my skimmer.




also how can i fix the micro bubble problem?

so i unpluged my skimer, the micro bubbles are still comming into the refugium........i think from where the water comes into the sump.


what cab i do about this?
